Cast Complete

Great news!! Our favourite Bass Baritone JOHN MOLLOY completes the cast on June 7th. Last heard in Glasthule Opera as Sarastro in our 2011 Magic Flute we welcome him back. His hilarious performance here as the lecherous priest in "The Wandering Scholar" is also well remembered!!

Opera for a Summer Evening - June 7th 2014 Pavilion Theatre 7.30pm

A big welcome to Glasthule for Irish and International Baritone  OWEN  GILHOOLY who will join Glasthule favourites KATY KELLY Soprano and RAPHAELA MANGAN Mezzo together with Ireland's brightest young opera stars KELLIE LONERGAN Soprano and PETER O'REILLY Tenor and Violinist GILLIAN WILLIAMS and Pianist MAIREAD HURLEY in an evening of beautiful music dedicated to the sounds and scents of Summer!

With just a week to the Gala the singers are gathering - KATE ALLEN has just arrived from San Francisco to sing in Ireland for the first time since she left to continue her studies in sunny California in 2009. She's been mentored by none other than Marilyn Horne and has just had a huge success as Lucretia in Benjamin Britten's "The Rape of Lucretia" with the San Francisco Opera's Merola Programme.

BRENDAN COLLINS has returned from making his debut in a solo role both at the world-famous
Glyndebourne Festival in East Sussex and the BBC Proms in London's Royal Festival Hall. Brendan is a big favourite with Glasthule audiences who have enjoyed his portrayals here of the major baritone roles  -  Mozart's Figaro, Toreador (Carmen) Pere Germont (La Traviata) and Marcello (La Boheme)

Terrific rehearsal with the orchestra yesterday - EOIN HYNES  singing of "Il mio Tesoro"is just beautiful and as for "You are my Heart's Delight"...........there won't be a dry eye in the house!!
And I can just imagine the audience joining in with SARAH POWER ( on a flying visit from her rehearsals with Scottish Opera in  Glasgow ) and BRENDAN as they pour out the nostalgia with the "Merry Widow Waltz".

The lucky people with tickets are in for a real operatic treat. The Gala is sold out and the Pavilion has a waiting list for returns!!!

Mark Duff Tenor

Tenor Mark Duff joined us last week to take over the role of Basilio in "Le Nozze di Figaro" giving Dominic the opportunity to prepare his high "Cs"for the Verdi Gala!

The excitement is building as we go into the final week of rehearsal. We're surrounded by props and wigs and bum rolls and corsets and the sewing machines are humming away!

David Scott Baritone

David has been with Glasthule since the beginning and we welcome him back in the role of Antonio in "The Marriage of Figaro" after his successful summer at the Schleswig Holstein Music Academy in Germany.

Sean Kennedy Tenor

This is Sean's debut in a main role! Having sung in the Glasthule Opera Chorus Sean steps out this year in the role Curzio in the "Marriage of Figaro"
